After learning the basics in a classroom setting, it was outside
where the practical took place. Everyone was encouraged
to make and set-up their own Figure 4 Deadfall Trap.

After working with the Figure 4, it was on to the Paiute Trap.

Everyone worked diligently to make their Traps.

Some worked in teams while others chose to work alone.

Cole and his team made this awesome Guillotine Trap.
The Trap has a Figure 4 Trigger on the left and
a Paiute Trigger on the right. When it was triggered,
it worked exceptionally well. Nicely done!

This giant Figure 4 Deadfall was a little tricky to set.

Stephen took on the role of the animal and actually bit the
bait stick to get a feel for what the animal would see and feel.

 

We were lucky with the weather. Saturday was overcast but quite comfortable to work outdoors and the ground wasn't too wet.

Special thanks to Eric and Peter for their expertise, wisdom and patience. Because of them, everyone got the opportunity to make and set at least one trap and go home with a better understanding of Trapping and the relationship between animal wildlife and Mankind.
