Winter Tracking
and Craft Projects Gathering
February 4/5/6, 2005

Our weekend was not typical for the beginning of February. On Saturday, we had a glorious day with sunshine and +7C. Sunday was partly cloudy with +4C temperatures. The warm weather melted a lot of snow and the tracks in the woods were very mushy.

It was so warm on Saturday, these gals went
for a walk in their bathing suits and winter boots.

Practicing their Body Control.

Alis arrived with a Racoon which needed to be skinned.

We spent some time following various tracks in the nearby woods.

Every once in a while, a conference was held to discuss
tracks and try to learn more about the animal that made them.

Often the tracks couldn't be identified because they had melted
so much. It was even difficult to work from the size of the track .

While crossing a pond, we came across this hole in the snow that lead
down under the roots of the surrounding trees. It was obvious that
it was well used as the snow around the entrance was well packed down.

Kathy & Kim headed off following a track to see where it would go.

While we waited for them to return, Kali started to roll a snowball.

The resulting snowball was pretty big!

On the walk back, we came across this unusual track .

It's difficult to see. So with the help of some photo
editing, the track can be be seen a little better.

Here's another section of the track!

Even though we had early Spring like temperatures, we had a
great weekend. We got out tracking on Saturday and Sunday
and spent the balance of our time working on our personal craft
projects and socializing.
