Red Hill Valley
Conservation Area
Roadtrip
October 23rd, 2004
On October 23rd, 2004, we made a Roadtrip to the Red Hill Valley Conservation Area in the East end of Hamilton. Our objective was to visit the Conservation Area before it gets paved over by the recently approved Highway Project. We were surprised by how much constuction had already been done. We looked at the giant swath the construction had made and wondered how much of an impact it would have on the wildlife that considered this their home.

As we started our hike down into the Valley
we noticed that the leaves had mostly fallen.

We came across this tree that had a wire growing through it.

It was great to see these deer tracks
right beside the new highway construction.

Kathy and Cezary look at the new highway construction.

Autumn-Willow leaves a friendship circle on the trail.

Kali and Kathy sat for a few minutes in this old tree.

The girls found a giant shelter and dropped in for a visit.
We came across this beautiful tree that had so much
wonderful energy around it. Nobody wanted to leave this spot!

In fact, some couldn't let go!

When we arrived back home, we
celebrated Autumn-Willow's 12th birthday.

This awesome Chocolate Cheesecake was baked
by
Mike Nelson Pedde. It was pure chocolate heaven
and every decadent bite melted in our mouths.
Our Day Trip was really enjoyable. We had perfect weather for our hike. Even though the Red Hill Valley is undergoing a major transformation, we can only hope that wildlife and people will find a balance so all may continue to nurture and enjoy the area.
