PLEASE READ - INVITE UPDATED June 30th

The revised concept for this weekend was born out of the discussions at the conclusion of the June 27/28/29 Scout Training Gathering. Our new concept is modelled after the Shadow Scout Program at our favourite Tracker School. Simply put, Senior Trained Scouts will operate an Advanced Scout Training Program that works in conjunction with the entry level Scout Training Program. This Dual-Level Program will run at the same time and serve each other in a unique and exciting way.

This weekend Program will be organized by Peter Wiinholt and David Browne. Peter is the lead contact for this event and can be reached at 905-473-4282 or by email.

We will gather at the home of Kathy & David Browne which is 20 minutes north of Georgetown, just south of Erin. Arrival can be anytime after 5:00 p.m. on Friday night. Departure will be late in the afternoon on Sunday.

To participate in the Advanced Scout Program, you must speak with Peter before the event date to ensure you have the appropriate amount of training. Peter will provide the Advanced Scouts with a list of who they will be training with so they can begin to prepare.

Scout Training Program   Advanced Scout Training Program

This is a continuation of our training that we started in June. We will be reviewing the basic Scout skills and techniques. We'll be working in Scout Teams and will be doing a lot of practical activities outside, so come prepared for camo and bugs. Novices are welcome.

Bring knives to work on traps and staffs. Camo clothing is a big asset. If you don't have camo clothing, find clothing with dull neutral colours like brown or dark green that can get dirty.

To participate, please bring:

  • water bottle
  • knife
  • staff (if you have one)
  • any trap making items
  • camo clothes if you have them, or
  • old dark clothing that can get very dirty
  • a clean change of clothes for going home
  • a towel to dry off after clean up or to sit on for the car ride home
  • rain gear
  • lip balm (optional)
  • insect repellant (optional)
  • hat & sunglasses (optional)

Regarding meals, please bring food to share. Base the amount of food you bring on the length of your stay. If you are unsure of what to bring, call Kathy or David at 905-702-9649 to discuss. Meals for the Scout Training Program only will be prepared in the house to maximize our training time.

The Advanced Program is mostly practical using the Basic Training Program participants as their subjects. It will be Team oriented and designed to test your Scout Skills and ingenuity.

To participate in the Advanced Scout Program, you MUST speak with Peter before the event date to ensure you have the appropriate training. Peter will provide the Advanced Scouts with a list of who they will be training with so they can begin to prepare.

Advanced Scout participants must arrive by 9:00 pm on Friday night. Departure will be late Sunday afternoon.

You and your team will set up a primitive outdoor camp and must remain invisible at all times.

To participate, please bring:

  • self contained food and shelter
  • rain gear
  • portable cooking gear (if needed)
  • backpack
  • water bottle(s)
  • water filter
  • drinking water will be available at the house
  • first aid kit
  • knife
  • staff
  • trap making items
  • camo attire
  • a clean change of clothes for going home
  • a towel to dry off after clean up or to sit on for the car ride home
  • lip balm (optional)
  • insect repellant (optional)
  • hat & sunglasses (optional)

Regarding meals, please bring food to share with your Advanced Scout Team. Since you will be operating as a Team that could be on the move for most of the weekend, you'll have to plan your meals to be very portable and easy to make.

You will be using no-trace camping techniques and will leave nothing behind.

Once again, please RSVP to Peter, by phone at 905-473-4282 or by email so he can expect you and contact you should there be a change in plans. Be sure to provide your phone number.

We look forward to having you join us.
